Tree Lighting Ceremonies In and Around Oakland Park

‘Tis the season to be jolly… falalalala lala lalaaaaaaa! Everywhere people are already gearing up for the biggest holiday of the year: Christmas! That means that cities all around South Florida will be lighting up trees in celebration. 

Living In Oakland Park has compiled a list of tree lighting ceremonies in and around Oakland Park for you to enjoy the festivities throughout the holiday season.

Oakland Park 

Come watch City Commissioners help Santa Claus light Oakland Park’s  Christmas Tree at Jaco Pastorius Park at the Grand Fountain Plaza. The tree lighting ceremony will touch off an entire weekend of holiday fun. 

Visit the Oakland Park Holiday Village on December 6 and 7 and enjoy the holiday carousel, snow slide, Santa’s village, ice skating, live music, food, drink, activities for kids and a holiday shoppers’ mart​. Oakland Park Holiday Village is fun for the whole family! Admission is free!

Santa will visit on Friday from 6-10 PM and on Saturday from 1-6 PM.

Holiday Village will be open from:

  • 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM on Friday, December 6,
  • 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM on Saturday, December 7

Location: Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park, FL 33334.

Coconut Creek

Coconut Creek’s annual tree lighting will be on Saturday November 16th at 6 pm at the Promenade at Coconut Creek. This holiday celebration will include music, entertainment, sweets, and a very special guest appearance by old St. Nick himself: Santa Claus!

Location: Promenade at Coconut Creek, 4443 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek 33073.

Fort Lauderdale

The City of Fort Lauderdale will hold a number of different tree lighting celebrations starting with Light Up Lauderdale on November 14th. 

Light Up Lauderdale

November 14th, from 6 PM to 9 PM at Esplanade Park, 400 Southwest 2nd Street – Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.

Light Up the Galt

November 21th from 6 PM to 9  PM at North Beach Restaurants and Shoppes, NE 33rd St, Fort Lauderdale 33308.

This free event is one of the best in Greater Fort Lauderdale. The entire Galt Ocean Mile area comes alive to host this big holiday celebration. North Beach restaurants and stores all join in the fun making this a very spirited holiday party. There will be  live music, entertainment, food, and fun for everyone. There will also be a Kids’ Zone and of course a chance to say hi to Santa. 

Light Up the Beach

November 26th from 7 PM to 9 PM at Las Olas Blvd and A1A Beach, Fort Lauderdale 33301.

Fort Lauderdale holiday festivities will be held on Fort Lauderdale Beach. A local band will be performing holiday favorites starting at 7 PM. 

Light Up Sistrunk  

December 6th from 5 PM to 9 PM at Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33306.

Light Up Carter Park

December 14th from  3 PM to 7 PM at Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard.

Hollywood

Artspark Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

While Hollywood may be a bit of a trek from Oakland Park, the Tree Lighting ceremony at Arts Park makes the ride south of 595 worthwhile. The City of Hollywood will have holiday music, tree lighting ceremony and a special appearance by Santa. The tree lighting ceremony begins on November 22 at 7 PM and ends at 9 PM.

Location: Arts Park at Young Circle, 1 Young Circle, Hollywood, FL 33020.

This event is Free. 

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Christmas-By-The-Sea 

Lauderdale-by-the Sea is going to light up the beach on Wednesday, December 4, at 5 PM at Anglin’s Square, off of Commercial Blvd. and El Mar Dr.

LBS’ event is fun for all ages. There will be dancing, entertainment, holiday music, food and photo opportunities with Santa. Oh and don’t forget, there will be snow too!

Wilton Manors

Oakland Park’s neighbor, Wilton Manors, will be lighting up their tree, menorah and kinara on Wilton Drive on Thursday, December 5 at 6:30 PM. 

There will be live music, food, vendors and lots of holiday cheer to go along with the lighting ceremony.
